Naylor saves draw for Celtic

03/22/2009 - Dundee, Scotland (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Celtic failed to take hold of the Scottish Premier League as the Hoops needed an 80th-minute goal from Lee Naylor to salvage a 2-2 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice Park on Sunday.

Celtic could have gone five points clear of second-placed Rangers with a win after Walter Smith's men were held to a 2-2 draw by Hearts on Saturday, but after Scott McDonald's opener in the 24th minute, Francisco Sandaza tallied twice for United before Naylor grabbed the equalizer with 10 minutes to play.

Aiden McGeady threatened early in the match for Celtic, but the Hoops went in front after 24 minutes from a corner kick.

Paul Hartley's cross was deflected towards his own goal by United's Garry Kenneth, forcing goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska to parry the ball into the air. McDonald took advantage as he was on hand to head home from close range for his 13th league goal of the campaign.

United's Morgaro Gomis needed to clear the ball off the goal line from Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's header to keep his side within a goal at the break, but they came out strong after the restart and leveled the match in the 47th minute.

Paul Dixon's corner kick was driven to the near post for Sandaza, and he flicked it high into the net past a number of Celtic players, while the second goal was just 10 minutes away.

Dixon once again played provider as he was sent down the right wing by James Wesolowski and crossed for the Spaniard to slot home.

Celtic heaped the pressure on over the last 20 minutes with McDonald forcing a good save from Zaluska, but he was unable to keep out a fantastic volley from Naylor after a poor clearance by Kenneth, helping Celtic take a point back to Glasgow.

The 2008 Kentucky Derby has announced a $1-million bonus for this weekend’s 134th ‘Run for the Roses’ and MySportsbook.com is doing the same.

''We're not running against history,'' trainer Steve Asmussen said Monday. ''We're running against who they load up.''

Six other horses have run in the Derby without benefit of 2-year-old races and with three or fewer starts. The best any of them managed was a sixth-place finish by Showing Up last year.
   
Asmussen dismissed suggestions that Curlin's lack of racing experience could keep him from the winner's circle.

”He exudes confidence and he's got a great presence about him,'' the trainer said. ''I feel great about the position we're in. He's not worried about anything, why should you be?''
